- Botulinum toxin blocks the transmission of the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine across the neuromuscular junction.

- Temporary effect is due to reversible chemical denervation.
- Time of onset of action is dose dependent.
- Production of acetylcholine is not altered.

- Pregnancy and lactation
